The BeeHome 12-frame Dadan polystyrene hive with a hygienic bottom for two families (unpainted) is a modern model that greatly facilitates the work of the beekeeper and creates optimal conditions for bees.

The main advantage of expanded polystyrene hives is their lightweight, durable material with excellent thermal insulation. This helps to maintain a stable microclimate inside, which contributes to a comfortable wintering and increased honey collection (up to 50% compared to wooden hives).

The design of the hygienic bottom includes a metal mesh and a drawer. This allows you to easily adjust the ventilation in the hive depending on the season. The design of the hygienic bottom helps to reduce varroa infestation: a mite that falls through the mesh cannot return to the bees. This bottom design also makes it easy to clean with the optional bottom pollen trap.

The bottom has two flight holes on opposite sides. Plastic flight barriers are included, which allow you to adjust the width of the flight opening, or close it completely if necessary.

The enclosures contain plastic folds, which significantly strengthens the structure. In addition, there are small gaps at the corners of the case so that the propolis-glued cases can be easily levelled with a chisel. There is a ventilation hole in the front wall, complete with a plastic vent and a blind polystyrene foam plug. If necessary, during the active season, you can install a plastic arrival board in the flight opening, which is sold separately.

The high canopy has four ventilation holes. Each vent is supplied with two plugs - a plastic one and a ventilation one. The height of the roof allows you to place a feeder or paste feed inside to feed the bees.

It is recommended to paint the hive elements with a special paint to increase the hive's resistance to external factors (direct sunlight, moisture, high and low temperatures).
